Grapes
Rkatsiteli literally means "red horn", referring to the reddish color of the grape stems and the slightly curved shape of the grape cluster. This historic autochthonous Georgian variety is known for its high sugar content and refreshing acidity, which give the wine a vibrant structure and a well-balanced profile.
The grapes for VAZIS XIDI Rkatsiteli 2021 were grown in Chailuri, Kakheti, in eastern Georgia, at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. The region's abundant sunshine, warm temperatures, and calcareous soil shape the grapes' distinctive character.
Process
For the production of this amber wine, the must was fermented on the skins in traditional qvevris, large clay vessels buried underground. After four weeks of maceration, the wine was transferred to a second qvevri, where it matured for an entire year.
Character
VAZIS XIDI Rkatsiteli 2021 is a complex wine with remarkable depth, richness, and smoothness. It is distinguished by its deep golden amber color and layered aromas of ripe and dried yellow and tropical fruits, spices, walnuts, almonds, and honey.
An excellent food wine, it pairs beautifully with grilled meats and vegetables, Mediterranean dishes like ratatouille or couscous, aged goat cheese, and Georgian specialties such as mtsvadi (grilled meat skewers).
